WELCOME TO OUR AFTERNOON OF FUN AND ARTS PROGRAM (AFA)!
We hope that you will consider joining us this year!
We are looking forward to a fun and exciting year filled with activities to grow and learn from. Making new friends is a BONUS! AFA is a program that is independent from the morning classes. It is informal but still adheres to the philosophy and policies of Bedford Village Morning School.
AFA is designed around different topics that are not covered in the morning program. The students begin the program at 11:30 a.m. (Upper Preschool) and 11:45 a.m. (Kindergarten) and are dismissed at 2:30 p.m. (We ask that you please adhere to the 2:30 p.m. pick up time as teachers may have other commitments in the afternoons.) If you need to pick your child up before 2:30 p.m., please park in the teacher parking area (near the playground) and come into the school to pick up your child from the AFA program.
During this afternoon time, the students will enjoy a lunch from home, outdoor play (weather permitting), time to relax and socialize while playing with materials only used in the AFA program, and an enrichment theme with activities centered around the topic of the day. AFA is a great opportunity for your child to laugh, socialize, play, explore and learn in a relaxed environment. MAKING NEW FRIENDS IS A BONUS!
We recommend a light nutritious lunch that is stored in a labeled lunchbox. We do not have adequate refrigeration for lunchboxes, so please provide ice packs for your child. We suggest a light lunch (sandwich, a snack, some fruit and a drink).
We would appreciate it if you did not send in glass containers, soups, go-gurts, lunchables or spreadables as many of these items take more time to prepare and often end up staining the rug. We are a nut free school. This includes lunches. Please do not pack any items that contain nuts or are processed in a factory with nuts. Please remember that lunch is a very important social time and often more giggling than munching is going on. Also please remember to dress your child for the weather. Until the snow flies, we will try to take advantage of going outside each day.
